SaveTheNews.org is a great vehicle for journalists to come together and use their knowledge about the field, to generate new ideas for the future of journalism. This website is dedicated to protect the fundamentals of journalism and why it is so important in our society.
In our classes we have discussed the future of journalism and how we can preserve the free press and flow of information for the good of citizens. The internet has posed a threat to newspaper and magazine circulations. It is now the job of future journalists to figure out how we can preserve the fact checking, analysis, and investigative reporting, that makes journalism such a powerful voice.
This website is a new, broad-based public campaign to create policies that addresses the crisis in journalism and to create a new face for it. This is how journalists can save the future of story-telling and informing citizens for the common good.
As I begin to contemplate on where I will be after graduating with a bachelors degree in journalism, I think back to all my JRN classes. I remember learning of the different stages that American journalism has been through and its triumphs and embarrassments. Even with all the negative opinions and fears that the industry will soon be outdated by the flow of emerging technology, I still love it and I am so passionate about my career.
